About Us
Welcome to Achoiring Voices!
Achoiring Voices is a fun & friendly, non-auditioned choir - open to all ages and abilities!
We love getting together every week to learn, laugh & sing music as a choir, in a fun & friendly atmosphere!
We're always welcoming new members to join in the fun... find out more below!
What To Expect?
We believe singing is for everyone! At Achoiring Voices, all ages & abilities are welcome!!
We join together in a welcoming atmosphere to sing, learn & have fun! There's no audition, no need to be able to read sheet music, or have any previous experience.
We sing together in vocal sections & Joe, our Musical Director arranges all the music so that melodies & harmonies are shared across all vocal parts. Joe's creative choral arrangements are a huge part of what makes learning new music so exciting, & performing as part of the choir so special!
We sing a mixture of fun & uplifting songs in a variety of popular genres from the 1950s to the current day; from Elvis to ABBA, Queen to Adele, Jackson 5 to Coldplay, & lots, lots more...
Rehearsals begin with a welcome, notices and vocal warm ups. Then we usually tackle something new or recap previous repertoire. At the end, we come together to perform what we’ve learnt that session.

There's FREE Tea & Coffee on arrival, so be sure to bring a travel mug with you, and catch up with other choir buddies before each rehearsal kicks off!
Weekly Rehearsals - Times/Days/Venues:
Our History
Achoiring Voices began in Feb 2016 on a wet Tuesday morning in Romsey with just 6 singers! Fortunately, the warm coffee was enough to entice them to return and our Tuesday morning group has grown to nearly 100 members!
In Sept 2017, Achoiring Voices launched a 2nd rehearsal venue in Totton and both groups began working towards joint performance ventures! 2 years later, our Winchester choir branch became our newest rehearsal venue, and more collective performances became exciting termly endeavours! After the challenges of running online during Covid, it was a delight to return back in person in Summer 2020, now with an extra rehearsal slot on Monday evenings in Romsey!

As well as continuing to work towards joint performances throughout the year, other highlights in the Achoiring Voices' calendar includes the regular termly Workshop Event Days - a fantastic opportunity for the entire choir community (+ guests) to collectively learn, sing & enjoy music together in great number!!
Meet Joe
Joe Nurse - Musical Director
In 2011, Joe moved from Sussex to study Music at Southampton University, where he stepped into the role of Musical Director of Jazzmanix, (the University's Pop & Gospel Choir), igniting his enthusiasm for choral directing. After graduating, and whilst teaching, composing and performing, Joe set about launching Achoiring Voices, which is his greatest joy & passion to lead!
